Making a clean job of it, the gentle way – Pretreatment

The pretreatment of yarns and fabrics prior to dyeing is a science in itself. Before a fiber will take a dye, everything in it has to come out – all the natural soiling and all the upstream processing aids, such as finishes, lubricants, and sizes.

From desizing through washing and boiling-off to mercerizing and bleaching, pretreatment involves more than just cleaning. Nothing goes without chemicals. Surfactants to wash out water-soluble and emulsifiable substances. Persulfate or enzymes to degrade starch. Alkalis to bind soil, make it dispersable and emulsifiable, hydrogen peroxide to remove discolorations.

Efficient systems for optimal effects

When it comes to combining all these elements into efficient chemical systems, Pulcra Chemicals is your ideal partner. With our comprehensive understanding of the processes, excellent laboratory skills and engineering knowledge about the machinery and equipment, materials, and the possible error sources, we help you to achieve optimal metering, control and process-linking of the individual pretreatment stages. Whether the process is continuous or discontinuous, irrespective of the make-up, we will define the optimal combination of auxiliaries and agents. Natural, biodegradable substances come first every time in developing our products. This is how we guarantee optimal effects with minimum stressing of materials and minimum wastewater loading.

A whole spectrum of specialties

Specialty number one: continuous pretreatment of cotton and cotton mixes. Products such as Cottoclarin®, Stabilol®, and Securon® stand out for their low foaming, rapid wetting and optimal emulsification – and have made us a global market leader.

Specialty number two: processing aids for mercerizing cotton. Foam-free processes with biodegradable products such as Floranit® and Securon® improve the dye uptake, luster, and processing properties.

Specialty number three: spearheading solutions for pretreatment of elastane and elastane fiber mixes. Syntergent® and Solvoclarin® dispel even stubborn silicone-containing oils and put an end to unwanted yellowing.

Specialty number four: wool pretreatment. Our detergents based on natural raw materials are especially gentle. Foryl® and various protein products preserve fiber elasticity during the raw wool wash and optimize processing during spinning.

Expert knowledge for greater efficiency

Our international team of experienced specialists will be right there to help you start up new machinery and equipment, switch to new products, and adapt formulations for new effects. In everything we do, efficiency is the watchword – increasing capacity and productivity by speeding up processes.
