Pulcra Chemicals takes over DyStar's Geretsried site

On April 1, 2010, Pulcra Chemicals bought the former DyStar production facilities for textile, fiber and leather auxiliaries in Geretsried, Germany. The company will start production in May 2010.

Pulcra Chemicals has acquired the DyStar Geretsried site four months after production was halted due to reasons of insolvency. Pulcra Chemicals bought the land, buildings, equipment and inventory. The company plans to restart production in May and will make Geretsried the main production site for the company’s leather and textile business within Europe. In this young and dynamic city nestled in an idyllic setting between Munich and the German Alps, Pulcra Chemicals has now found a new home for its European activities.

The Geretsried site offers a complete set-up with numerous production technologies, application and development laboratories, offices and warehouses. Geretsried has a long tradition of textile, leather and fiber chemicals manufacturing that goes back more than 60 years. The DyStar group of companies bought the Geretsried site as part of the acquisition of the Dr. Th. Böhme group in 2006. Dr. Th. Böhme had been a leading worldwide supplier of leather, textile and fiber chemicals.

“The production site at Geretsried is perfectly tailored to the needs of Pulcra Chemicals. As a supplier of process chemicals, we serve similar types of customers that DyStar and Dr. Th. Böhme used to. We will greatly benefit from the technological knowledge and expertise of the employees at Geretsried,” says Yusuf Aktalay, CEO of Pulcra Chemicals. “By acquiring the site, Pulcra Chemicals has strengthened its position in the market, and can further enhance the services and products it provides to customers in Europe and all over the world.”
